Lake Vyrnwy is the ultimate venue for outdoor pursuits. The Lake itself is the most obvious feature, but the surrounding hills and rivers provide lots more opportunities for the keen and not so committed outdoor enthusiast.

On arriving at the impressive Vyrnwy dam, with its grand view up the valley, the first feature to take the eye is Bethania Adventure water sports base just 300 m along the south -west shore. At the boat house there is the opportunity to enjoy the water. Available there you will find, Canoes, Kayaks, sailing boats and boards either for hire or under instruction.
For Fishermen boats can also be hired from the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel.

Walking the dogs

Turning left at the end of the dam brings the chance for cycle hire, either tandem or mountain bike from Artisans craft shop or Mandy's café. Or use your own to travel the many trails ,high and low around the Lake and forest . You can also book a horse and carriage drive to see the beautiful scenery in style with Mucklewick Horse and Carriage Co.

Situated above the lake on its eastern edge is the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel where clay pigeon shooting and Quad biking trails are available. Archery at various venues with Bethania Adventure

For the walker, there are footpaths for the timid or terrain to test the expeditioner, guided walks often provided by the R.S.P.B, Expeditions and climbing in the hills with Bethania
Adventure.

The river below the dam has, when the water is running, the start point for Kayak, Canoe and White water rafting trips organised by Bethania Adventure. Spate rivers abound for the more experienced paddler.

Once you have finished for the day, why not try out the excellent accomodation offered in and around the Lake Vyrnwy area. With friendly hosts and comfortable surroundings.
